DESCPRIPTION OF PROJECT
Based on Singen's own transportation master plan, Fichtner WT developed and evaluated a range of solutions for linking inner urban areas to the regional road network west of the town. Among the important planning and design criteria to be considered were aspects of urban design and ecology, the protection of groundwater resources as well as landscape integration and harmonisation. Several expert analyses were presented during the preliminary and conceptual design phases.

The option chosen for final design and execution comprised a fourlane carriageway within the town centre area, and a further two-lane road. Included in the solution were depressed sections, two cut-and cover tunnels with plant cover and steep slopes stabilised with gabions, and a road bridge over the river Aach. Work also included design and implementation of a new cycle and pedestrian path network, complete with a steel bridge over the railway line.
