DESCPRIPTION OF PROJECT As a result of the construction of a new shopping centre on the south side of the "Europaplatz", several traffic guidance options were developed, presented and evaluated in a traffic study with regard to traffic planning and urban development criteria. On the basis of traffic counts and forecasts the efficiency of the different options was determined. The municipal council of the city of Weil decided on a combined double roundabout forming a double loop (see picture). This special form of a traffic roundabout combines advantages for the vehicle traffic with favourable pathways for pedestrians and allows an attractive design of the entire square. The traffic roundabout was designed and realised in accordance with the Administration of Road Construction and the Roads and Traffic Authority. Fichtner WT took over the design, the tendering and the construction supervision for the entire traffic facility. PROJECT COMPONENTS AND TECHNICAL DATA
