DESCPRIPTION OF PROJECT
In general, the aim of the safety and health coordination is to avoid danger when several employers are cooperating, as well as to align the use of safety facilities which are needed by various employers.

The construction site of the weir at Rheinfelden is situated in the riverbed of the upper Rhine. The natural range of the channel flow is, in addition, partially varied at very short notice by the reservoir retention of the run-of-river power stations. Some works like the installation of the retaining wall or the demolition of the old weir have to be effected in the open riverbed at soundings of 7 m and a flow velocity of 3.5 m / s. The safe execution of these works integrating flood predictions, the operation of the power stations and the pollution abatement is a central concern of the constructor.

The actual construction is built under protection of the retaining wall. The latter has been designed for flood peaks which statistically only have to be expected every 100 years. The limited available space requires a clear structuring of the traffic routes so that the works of the involved companies (concrete works, steel construction, injections, etc.) with their numerous staff can take place parallelly in safety.

The safety and health protection plan temporally connects all the constructions and thus helps to recognise and avoid dangers. Within the scope of the general process there are also taken into consideration numerous "dangerous works" in the sense of the construction site regulation, e.g. blasting, diving, levying of heavy pre-fabricated parts and big crash heights. The escape route map which regularly is updated, facilitates the orientation at the construction site for the employees and the rescue parties.
