DESCPRIPTION OF PROJECT
Within the scope of the reorganisation of the country’s water sector, the govern­ment of Saudi Arabia has concluded a 7-year management contract with the multinational company Suez Environment, which has been given the responsibility over the technical, operational and commercial management of the water supply and sanitation systems.

To guarantee an effective control of the operator’s adherence to the standards defined in the management contract, the national water company NWC entrusted Fichtner with the audit of the management contract.

Principal objective of the auditing services:
  • Analysis and evaluation of the operator's compliance with the standards fixed in the management contract concluded with NWC.
Services provided:
  • Development of instruments for technical supervision
  • Verification of performance indicators
  • Performance review and assistance in performance enhancement
  • Benchmarking against international standards
  • Risk analysis and suggestions on how to improve the contract
  • Control of compliance with acknowl­edged service standards such as water quality, non-revenue water, treatment, customer service, continuity of services, collection efficiency, execution of works, organisation etc.
  • Check of physical and operational status of the water supply networks
  • Review and approval of the private operator's claims
  • Calculation of premiums and penalties for the operator.
