Construction of the tramway to Freiburg-Haslach / Germany
Tramway to Freiburg-Haslach
Tramway to Freiburg-Haslach
DESCPRIPTION OF PROJECT
The city of Freiburg has an attractive, public railroad network. The extension of the city railroad to Freiburg-Haslach connects the city centre of Freiburg with the south-western districts of Haslach and Weingarten. With this tramway line 21,000 inhabitants and 7,200 working places are connected to the railway network in Freiburg.

The new track line was designed as double-track completely segregated from the other traffic. The construction length of this railway alignment amounts to about 3.8 km. The track has been designed as a predominantly "green" formation planted with lawn. The entire parallel and crossing transport network has been adjusted to the new railway line, all crossing streets are integrated into the signal control. In addition, several bridge constructions as well as retaining walls formed part of the design. Altogether, there have been built 7 new tram stops, 2 of the already existing stops have been extended.

The project which was prepared in the form of a joint venture included besides the tramway design also topographic surveys as well as the coordinated planning of utility lines in the entire traffic area as the local utility companies had to carry out extensive relocations and adjustments of the existing utility lines prior to the beginning of the construction works.

The entire section was divided into 3 phases of construction. A promotion according to the law for financing the transport in municipalities has taken place.

In association with KERN WEISSENBORN, Freiburg.
