 Water supply in Central Guinea
DESCPRIPTION OF PROJECT The aim of these projects was to ensure sufficient water supply to the rural population in the Fouta Djallon region totalling some 1,100,000 capita. The principal tasks included the construction / rehabilitation of a large number of drilled and dug wells, spring catchments, distribution networks equipped with solar pumps and demonstration latrines. These measures were accompanied by motivational and awareness building campaigns and the training of personnel of the water point committees to make them apply the hygienic rules indispensable for the proper management and maintenance of the modern water points.The project included furthermore a health education programme aimed at the schools of the project areas as well as the training of local staff for an anti-AIDS campaign.
