DESCPRIPTION OF PROJECT
In 1998, a containerised sewage treatment plant for basic biological treatment of sewage from the built-up area of the town of Wermsdorf (3,500 inh.) was installed as a provisional solution. This plant no longer meets the requirements and its equipment is worn out. Based on the results of a techno-economic investigation of options, the concept of a replacement plant for 3,800 inh. was selected for implementation.

The new plant is designed as a two-train sequencing batch reactor with simultaneous aerobic sludge stabilisation for biological nitrate elimination. The Consultant had to consider complex soil conditions and extensive nature conservation sensitivity, as the area is listed as a flora-fauna habitat.

The works had to be realised without interruption of the operation of the original plant. Individual components of the original plant have been rehabilitated and incorporated in the new plant.
