DESCPRIPTION OF PROJECT The Plunge wastewater treatment plant in Telsiai District had to be rehabilitated. The plant had been dimensioned for a discharge of 10,000 m³/d but was working with an average discharge of only 3,500 m³/d. Since the plant was technically obsolescent, nitrates and phosphates could not be eliminated. Furthermore, plant operation was not economical and the plant was overdimensioned for current and future loads. The sewerage network was in poor condition and, as a result, infiltration and exfiltration exceeded acceptable limits. Losses in the water supply network amounted to about 40%.
