DESCPRIPTION OF PROJECT
Energiedienst AG (Corp.) of Rheinfelden plans the construction of a run-of-the-river power station, which is to replace the existing hydropower plant that has been in operation for more than 100 years.

The new power station includes 4 turbine-generator sets of 28.5 MW each (totalling 114 MW) plus one residual flow turbine of 1.9 MW. The design flow is circa 1,500 m³/s, the max. head 9.2 m and the annual generating capacity around 600 GWh.

Within the engineering association Fichtner, Stuttgart and Elektrowatt Ekono, Zurich, Fichtner WT as part of the Fichtner Group was brought in for the design of all related infrastructural facilities, i.e.: service yard near the power house complete with access road and road tunnel, water supply and waste­water disposal facilities, fish pass, boat shifting and moving equipment (along the Swiss shore of the Rhine) as well as connection of the Rheinfelden weir with the German shore. Services include the final design, preparation of tender documents, tender analysis and construction supervision of all civil structures, earthwork and foundations, hydraulic steel structures as well as electro-mechanical equipment.
