DESCPRIPTION OF PROJECT
After some twenty years of preliminary studies, construction work for the Imboulou hydropower plant on the Lefini river finally started in 2005. The Direction Générale des Grands Travaux commissioned a Chinese contractor with the turn-key erection of the plant.

With an annual production of 680,000 MWh, the new hydropower plant substantially contributes to the energy supply of the Republic of the Congo.

The consultant was entrusted with part of the construction supervision and quality control for the hydropower plant and the storage dam as well as the 60-km-long access road.

The plant consists of an R.C. dam with four vertical Kaplan turbines, two bottom outlets and the spillway, as well as of a 270-m-long earth dam.
